How Entrepreneurship Is Better Than An Ordinary Job

Success Quarterly is a tech and business blog that focuses on the intersection of Silicon Valley and Hollywood, including technology, business, mobile, entertainment, media, and related topics.
After reading this article you will be able to understand the importance of entrepreneurship and you will be able to work hard to start your own business.
A job is a means to an end and not the end itself. So if you are a college student or you are a young person who is just graduating from school, you might want to consider entrepreneurship as your job because it will help you to find your real passion.
The funny thing is that entrepreneurship is one of the most difficult jobs in the world. It is so difficult that only 1% of the world population can be entrepreneurs.
It takes years of hard work and consistent commitment to survive and create a successful business.
While some jobs are fairly predictable, entrepreneurship is unpredictable. During my first couple of years of entrepreneurship, I wasn't sure I would survive.
Many days I had no customers, so I had no money. Many weeks I struggled to pay rent.
Yet, I made it. I am still here.
If you want to get started or if you have already started, here are a few reasons why entrepreneurship is better than an ordinary job.
1. You have freedom
You get to define your own hours and work place. You can take time off to pursue personal activities.
You can dedicate time to the most important tasks, like your business.
Imagine how powerful it would be if you could just decide to take a month off and go on a retreat. You can work from home and you can be productive because you are in charge of your life.
2. You have money and freedom
Your freedom is in the form of money. Entrepreneurs have more financial freedom than regular people.
With your own business you can invest in things that are important to you, like your family and your future. Having money allows you to live comfortably in most cities.
When I lived in Dallas, I lived in a basement apartment for $950 per month. I loved the apartment because it was in a safe neighborhood and it was close to work.
I was able to afford this because I had a steady stream of customers.
3. You are your own boss
You are in charge of your own destiny. You get to take risks and embrace failure if it means you succeed.
You get to choose how you spend your time.
When you work for someone else, your work life is determined by the boss. You get to spend the majority of your time working in an office, on business trips, commuting to an office, etc.
You get to be someone's employee. You are not in charge of your own time or your own work.
You are not in charge of your life.
An entrepreneur has the freedom to work when he or she wants to. If you are an entrepreneur, you can choose not to work on Saturday or whenever you want to.
4. You can choose your destiny
To create a successful business, you have to develop an idea, invest time, and execute on it. You have to stay focused and make the right choices at the right time.
In most cases, people are not good at this because they lack the experience and skills.
For most people, their paths to success are full of failures. They make the wrong choices at the wrong times. Instead of risking their lives and building a business, most people go to an ordinary job.
I have had to learn how to cope with failure. If I made a mistake, I had to learn from it and move forward.
If I fell on my face, I had to pick myself up and keep moving.
5. You can always start again
During your life, you can't do everything at once. You can't run the fastest marathon or get a college degree at the same time.
You can't take a break after learning something new. You have to finish what you started.
When you run a business, you can start from scratch again, with all the mistakes you made, if you want.
For many of us, we would love to wake up each morning and decide, "Today is the day I start my business." If we were entrepreneurs, we could do that each day.
6. You have all the possibilities
With entrepreneurship, you have unlimited potential to create and start your own business. You are always on the forefront of the industry.
There are many people that are unhappy at their regular jobs, and they want to work on something that matters to them. However, they have no idea how to do that because their jobs are not flexible enough.
If you are unhappy at your job, you can always quit and start a business.
7. You have freedom
When you own your own business, you are your own boss. You have no boss telling you what to do.
You can always make the choice you want.
When you are an employee, you get to choose what you are doing that day. You are given an hourly wage, so you can choose to do something you like or you can do something you hate.
If you hate it, you can quit and find a different job. If you choose to do something you like, then you are happy.
8. You can do what you love
Do what you love. Follow your passion.
Do something that brings you joy and happiness.
When I was younger, I loved sports. For me, it was fun to go to practice or a game and make a lot of friends.
It was fun to meet the other players at parties. I liked being with other people who enjoyed sports as much as I did.
However, for most people, sports is a drag. They don't enjoy it.
They dread going to practice or a game. They would rather be at home watching TV or playing video games than being a part of a team.
My advice to you is to find something that you love and pursue that passion. Find a job you like but you are happy at.
Whatever you do, do something that you love. This will bring you happiness and peace of mind.
