Time is one of our most valuable resources. It truly is a luxury that we have a limited amount of. Because we work with it so heavily, it can be tricky to manage.

Time management isn't just about doing all these tasks efficiently, it's also about having control over how much time you spend on them.

As mentioned before, time management is about knowing what you should be doing at any given moment and being able to allocate your time efficiently between different tasks and activities.
As human beings we are sometimes very slow in coming to terms with how much time our commitments take away from us and how little time we have left.
Time is a valuable asset that most people seem to forget they have. It’s like water – if you don’t use it, it will eventually go down hill and something else can come along and grab a hold of it.
So, it is important to make sure that you don’t waste this precious resource by forgetting it once again.
How? By making it clear what you need to be doing every minute of every hour of every day!
It sounds crazy I know but here’s why it works:
By assigning yourself things to do, you’re more likely to actually do them because you made a note of them somewhere and now you remember when and where you wrote those notes, you're reminded each time you open your laptop or smartphone.
This also helps prevent you from forgetting about whatever task you had planned to work on next since you noted it earlier.

It’s easy to get distracted by all the things that have to be done, and no one is ever really alone in this pursuit, but figuring out how to prioritize effectively takes practice.
It can feel like there are never enough hours in the day, and while having extra time is always helpful, people who manage their time well understand that every minute has to be accounted for.

Either way, if you want to improve your time management skills, then you need to know how much effort each person around you expects you to put in. This will help you determine how much pressure you feel from their expectations, and whether this pressure has an impact on your own commitments.

A lot of people get into trouble because they underestimate how much time things will take. They also overestimate their own ability to fit everything in, especially when they’re working hard.

On top of all this, we spend a significant amount of time thinking about all our responsibilities, and making arrangements for them. We can easily get carried away planning and organizing without noticing that we haven’t left enough time for ourselves.
As difficult as it may sound, one way to improve time management is by learning how to say no.

A lot of people have trouble managing their time because they feel like they’re never quite enough when you add all of your commitments together.
They also feel overwhelmed by the amount of work that has to get done in a specific timeframe.
It can be tricky to prioritize tasks, too, since there is always something new that needs to be done.
So how do you manage your time if you don’t have much time? You make the most important things your top priorities and you give yourself deadlines for completing them so that you don’t overwork yourself.
The more crucial resources you have, the easier it will be to focus on other things. You’ll know that you’ve saved one essential piece of equipment by making sure you’ve spent less time working during times with limited availability.
You’ll save money in the long run by not spending hours per week on unnecessary services and subscriptions.
Only focus on what is important
Now that you have learned how to manage your time, your next task will be figuring out which tasks are worth your time and energy.
You should only spend your time on things that are truly important to you. If you feel distracted when you start working on a project or task, it may be because this activity isn’t something that makes you happy. You could be toiling away on an activity that doesn’t bring you much joy, so why keep doing it?
If you’re in high school, spending hours every day studying can be fun, but after college, investing lots of time into learning experiences that don’t prepare you for future opportunities can waste your student years.
Think about all of the money you spent on education, and how little return you got from some of those classes. Your income didn’t increase just because you took several business courses back in college, so why invest your hard-earned cash in them if they aren’t going to help you achieve your financial goals.
A few years ago, I read an article about time management that made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt. The author discussed how important it is to take regular breaks. He mentioned taking a short break after spending hours writing or working on your computer, going out for a lunch break, stepping away from the office for a few minutes before leaving work, and getting some things done as “me” time.
He also mentioned taking longer breaks, which are especially needed when you're doing something that requires more energy like talking with a friend, having a dinner party, or attending a event.
By breaking up your day into smaller chunks, you give yourself permission to stop what you're doing for a little while, which helps you feel relaxed and able to pick back up where you left off later.
This way, you don't have to spend huge amounts of time trying to make progress, because you just put aside a couple minutes at a time until everything's finished. It becomes easy to add onto this system, too – you can easily go through phases where you do not need long breaks, but there will be times when you do.
