How To Time Management Reddit

Success Quarterly is a tech and business blog that focuses on the intersection of Silicon Valley and Hollywood, including technology, business, mobile, entertainment, media, and related topics.
Time is one of our most valuable resources, but how well you use it directly impacts your career and personal life. If you have a job that does not provide adequate time management training or tools, then investing in those products is an easy way to fix that problem.
For example, at the beginning of my professional career I would spend hours every day responding to messages on social media. It’s hard to manage your time when you are spending it doing something else! Now I keep conversations to a minimum by using a tool called Slack which allows me to communicate with people more efficiently.
There are many other ways to improve your time management skills via technology. Some of the apps and software that can help include:
Task managers such as Google Calendar or Microsoft OneNote where you can organize and track your tasks
Apps that monitor your smartphone for activity alerts and notifications
Cloud-based email services like Gmail or Office 365 that save you time from having to set up and sync your own email
Some people even put plastic bins next to their bed to hold all of their things so they get organized in their home morning. You could do the same!
In this article we will discuss some strategies and tips for improving your time management skills. Many of these ideas apply whether you are just starting out or you feel overwhelmed with everything already.
Journalling your thoughts and feelings
One of the most important things when it comes to time management is taking some time to yourself. You need to recognize that you will not be able to perform your best until you have given yourself some time to relax or recharge.
There are many ways to use your free time, from doing something you like to practicing yoga or meditation. Whatever you choose to do, make sure it helps you de-stress and re-focus so that you can give your full attention to the tasks at hand.
You should also try to keep organized. Use an app such as Google Calendar to know where every day goes. This way, you don’t waste any time trying to remember what you had planned for today!
At the end of each day, take a few minutes to write down all the things you did and how you spent your time. Make notes about anything that happened that week, and whether you were successful in achieving your goals.
Make a to do list
One of the most important things when it comes to time management is having an easy way to organize all your tasks. There are many ways to do this, but my favorite is using an app or software that allows you to make lists.
I like making use of Google Keep for making lists and giving them appropriate names depending on what area of life they belong in. For example, I would create one task list called ‘Take good care of yourself’. This could be due tomorrow or next week or any time frame really!
That is how I structure my lists. By breaking down my goals into different areas, then creating some reminders for each item, I have a lot more control over my schedule and I can move things around if needed.
Google keep also gives me quick notes about each task which helps me remember what I need to do with it. These notes can include dates, times, people, etc. – whatever fits for why I put it there in the first place.
Create a healthy work-life balance
A lot of people make the assumption that having more responsibilities means being successful as an individual and/or a professional. But for many, this is not necessarily the case.
What we call ‘having responsibility’ often implies 'lack of time'. If you have one job with two bosses (yourself and time), then you will never feel like you are leaving your job behind. You are always in front of a computer or phone doing something - even if it's just checking Facebook once every hour!
This does not leave much time for other things, such as spending time with family, friends, and/or romantic partners. The cost of staying connected via technology can be lower than you think!
There are ways to manage your workload so that you do not overwork yourself, but also give yourself enough time to relax, enjoy life, and spend time with those who mean the most to you.
Hold off on disruptive teamwork
Changing how you work is definitely a needed change, but only if you are done with the current way of working. You need to make sure that your changes do not negatively affect those around you.
Disruptive team members or leaders will have to take some time to get used to the new style of leadership they receive. This can be difficult at first as people may no longer feel like they are being listened to and/or trusted.
Teamwork is an essential part in our daily lives so changing how we collaborate needs to happen slowly. If possible, try to give people some extra time to adjust.
Be careful about what kind of changes you make. Only make tweaks that cannot be reverted; nothing major such as replacing someone’s job!
If necessary, create a transitional leader who can help others become more adjusted to the new style of leadership.
Be consistent
Consistency is one of the biggest keys to time management. This can be done in many different ways, but one of the most important things to focus on is establishing a routine for managing your time.
If you manage your time every day, at least once each task, then it will feel more structured and organized.
This way you are not wasting any time doing other things because you have set up yourself as having this set amount of time per week to work on these tasks.
You will also notice that you get faster results due to repetition.
Every day when you wake up you make a decision how you are going to spend your day. By setting small goals and sticking to them, you create consistency.
And if you ever find that you are running short on time, just simply do something with your schedule! You may need to start making changes by giving up some things or limiting others.
But don’t give up what you want! If you really wanted that job opportunity, you would still go after it, just maybe without as much time spent on it.
Take breaks
A lot of people get stressed out at work because they never take time off for themselves. You should definitely make time to do things that you like, but aside from taking lunch or a short break during the day, there are many ways to manage your stress.
One effective way is to use our new tool here at IMI: The free online service called “Take 5”. For just five minutes a week, this will give you a couple of minutes to do anything you want (for example, have a quick walk outside). Then you can quickly switch between doing something active (like walking) and doing something passive (watching TV, reading).
Not only does this help reduce overall stress levels, it also helps reset your mind as well! What works best is the same thing working methods we mentioned earlier in this article: Use tools to track how long it took you to feel relaxed, then add some more time to do what you wanted later.
Work on your work-life balance
A lot of people focus only on their career, and neglect other important parts of their life. You should be careful about how you spend your time outside of work, as these times can quickly add up!
It is very common to feel stressed out and overwhelmed with work. It’s totally normal to feel this way, but there are ways to fix it. One of the most effective things you can do to manage your stress is to develop more skills in the area of time management.
You can also try using technology to help you organize and track your time. There are many apps that can aid you in this area, so do some research and find one that works for you.
Another tip is to make changes to the way you allocate your time. For example, if you have a job that demands you work long hours, ask yourself whether or not this is necessary.
Practice meditation
A great way to manage your time is by learning how to meditate. Meditation can help you reduce stress, focus on what’s important in your life, and eliminate distractions that may be keeping you from achieving your goals.
There are many types of meditation, so pick one that feels right for you. Some people focus on their breath while doing yoga or breathing exercises, which has been shown to have benefits similar to those who practice mindfulness.
Other tips include using white noise (such as music or water sounds) to drown out other noises around you, and avoiding talking on the phone or computer while you’re trying to relax.
You can also use word lists or guided relaxation techniques to facilitate sleep.
