Intrigued by the potential of vibe coding, I signed up for a boot camp conducted by Sherry Jiang, CEO of a fintech company, and Agrim Singh, CTO of an AI-powered hardware design assistant.

The boot camp took place over a weekend, transforming an office into a dynamic classroom.

All we needed was a laptop and a project idea. The goal was straightforward: to create a functioning app by the end of the weekend.

The process kicked off with a slideshow outlining our objectives. Saturday was dedicated to refining our project ideas into clear product concepts, while Sunday was all about development and integrating AI into our creations.

My project of choice was a negotiation training tool, designed to help users improve their negotiation skills through interactive exercises.

The most surprising aspect of the boot camp was the realization that coding wasn’t the main focus. Instead, success hinged on understanding how to effectively prompt and instruct the AI tools. This was a revelation — vibe coding was more about patience and the art of “prompt engineering” than traditional coding skills.

As Agrim Singh aptly put it, “AI is the dumbest smart thing out there … you have to be super specific.” This sentiment underscored the importance of crafting precise instructions for the AI to follow.

Ultimately, I settled on the negotiation trainer, but the possibilities were endless. In hindsight, perhaps the whimsical dog-matching app would have been a fun endeavor.
