What Do All Successful Leaders Have In Common

Howdy! A Portland, OR native, I currently reside in the northern San Diego County area as a freelance writer. When I'm not sipping coffee, soaking up some rays and writing or playing guitar you can find me at the hot yoga studio.
Being successful is not based purely on luck. It takes more than just luck to swim through rough waters.
This includes being hardworking and courageous in the things you do. Likewise, you need to take risks and find the best solution for your problems.
But what do all successful leaders have in common?
Does it require you to wake up at 3 AM every day? Will you have to pray before making a phone call to an important person?
Do you have to be a doomsday prophet with deep pockets to make it? If yes, then what are you waiting for?
Everyone has the desire to achieve what successful leaders have.
The only thing is that most people want to achieve it by doing something else.
Success is achieved by the achievement of mastery
The journey of mastering a skill, knowledge, or domain can be challenging and arduous.
It is like climbing a mountain, and often, you end up at the top with your hands wrapped around a rock to stop you from going further.
Once you have done it, you are no longer satisfied with doing it for one day.
Your productivity should increase. The reason for that is you have scaled the mountain.
Your concentration should be now on getting higher in that mountain. The company and the individuals you interact with must become more important to you.
You should want to master the domain. The problem is most people do not really understand what mastery means.
To achieve what successful leaders have, you need to understand the concept of mastery, and understand what they have mastered and how you can do the same.
To demonstrate that you have the desire, the grit, and the ambition to become a master, you need to understand why successful leaders have achieved what they have achieved.
What are the 3 reasons that have contributed to their success?
Successful leaders have 3 core competencies which is most likely the reason for their success.
These competencies were not made and achieved overnight. Leaders made sure to take them time as it took them years to perfect whatever process they needed to go through.
1. Dedication
Successful leaders are highly dedicated to what they do. They are committed to their cause and highly focused on accomplishing that goal.
Successful leaders stay focused on what they are doing.
They don't get distracted easily. They do not need to be first but will always do their best in whatever they do.
They do not get sidetracked easily.
They are focused and disciplined. They have a plan and follow that plan no matter what.
Successful leaders are not lazy. They do not procrastinate.
They plan and work hard and follow through with their plan.
Successful leaders do not have to rely on excuses to not do the things that need to be done.
2. Passion
To get the things done, you have to be passionate about them.
You must be deeply committed to them.
You must be committed to what you are doing.
You must be passionate about it.
Successful leaders have a passion for their work.
You should be fully committed to what you do.
You should not think of quitting it just because you find it boring or do not feel like it.
You need to be driven by a passion to be a successful leader.
If you are not passionate about it, you may never be successful. You will never want to pursue it.
Successful leaders do things because they love doing them.
If you don't love it, you will not be successful.
3. People skills
You have to be able to interact with your team and your subordinates.
You have to know how to handle people.
You have to have people skills.
You have to be able to speak to people and get what you need to get done.
You have to have strong people skills.
If you don't, people will not listen to you.
You will not be successful.
Successful leaders have good people skills. They are good at dealing with people.
They can work in an environment of diversity.
They communicate well.
They get along well with others.
They can work in an environment where everyone is focused and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
A passion for success
I am convinced that, above everything else, a great leader has a passion for success.
This passion gives them a reason to wake up every day, live a fulfilling life, and strive for their goals.
No leader is content with mediocrity and they never stop striving to achieve greatness.
A life-long learning mindset
The people who succeed in life are relentless learners and they never stop learning.
They never stop reading, listening, studying, or sharing what they know with others.
The people who succeed in life understand that the world is evolving, that there are endless opportunities, and that the future is in our hands.
Introspection
Although great leaders are impulsive, impatient, and hard-headed, they also understand that they are merely human.
They think for themselves, they ask questions, and they reflect on their actions.
Great leaders are always willing to change and try to do better.
When wanting to be a great leader, always make sure to remember that as human as you are, you will commit mistakes that might make or break you. As a leader, you have to be ready to face the consequences of your actions and accept that not everything will go your way.
Success is not just about money
Successful leaders know that their wealth does not define them or determine how successful they are.
Many people become rich because they are good at what they do, but very few people become rich for the reason that they are brilliant business people.
In reality, it is the quality of their service that drives their success.
Pride is important
Great leaders tend to be humble, which makes them more approachable and approachable to others.
Pride motivates a person to move forward and do great things.
It helps them stay focused, motivated, and productive.
Humility is a very important character for every successful leader. It is important to stay down to earth even with evident success because it keeps you grounded.
As a successful individual, many people look up to you, and if you start getting cocky, these people will be dropping like flies – they will eventually forget that you even existed because you are not checking in on your attitude. Success is not just about dedication – it is about your attitude in accepting your success and downfalls.
